    Security Analyst applauds government for introducing military training in NSS

    Mr Bill Godson Ocloo, a Security Analyst, has applauded the government for the efforts to introduce military training in the National Service Scheme for personnel to acquire basic skills.

    According to Mr Ocloo, the initiative would enable to inculcate discipline, patriotism and faithfulness in individuals that would do their national service in the various institutions.

    Mr Ocloo who is also is also Chief Executive Director of the African Centre for Emergency Management and Human Security, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said that the military training would be beneficial to National Service personnel in several ways.

    “The training would not only equip them with essential skills but also help to build their character and prepare them for future challenges,” he said.

    He explained that the National Service Scheme was a critical component of Ghana’s national development and introduction of military training into the scheme would be a proactive approach to shape the youth and preparing them for their various roles in nation-building.

    Mr Ocloo emphasised that the importance of discipline and patriotism in the youth and expressed hope that the military training would enable to instill quality values in National Service personnel which would ultimately benefit the nation in all angles.

    “I hope the initiative will be design well to benefit all manner of persons, and by equipping them with essential skills and building their character, the training will enable them to tackle complex tasks to make meaningful contributions to the nation.”

    He said the initiative was highly welcomed by all faithful Ghanaians and it demonstrated the government’s commitment to investing in the youth and preparing them for their roles for the progress and development of the country.

    Mr Ocloo said that ” I believe the training would not be solely base on how the personnel would handle guns, but rather basic skills to protect themselves as well as properties of the country.”

    Other information GNA gathered revealed that the National Service Authority (NSA) would pilot a military training programme for at least 10,000 National Service Personnel beginning August 3, 2025, with plans to make it mandatory for all personnel starting next year.
