His appointment comes at a time when Ghana faces economic headwinds, including rising inflation, public debt concerns and currency depreciation.

This places him at the center of Ghana’s efforts to navigate economic challenges and drive sustainable growth.

He will be collaborating with Finance Minister-designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson in pursuing a raft of economic policies under the John Mahama led administration.

Terkper brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having served as Finance Minister from 2013 to 2017.

During his tenure, he was instrumental in implementing key fiscal reforms, including initiatives to improve public financial management and stabilise the national economy.

His extensive background includes his role in negotiating Ghana’s Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and steering efforts to introduce policies such as the Energy Sector Levy Act (ESLA) to address energy sector debt.

The new advisory role is a testament to the government’s commitment to leveraging expertise to address the nation’s economic challenges.

It is expected that Seth Terkper’s experience and insights will help shape policies aimed at fostering growth, stabilising the macroeconomic environment and enhancing investor confidence.
