    Sunlight media launches Mike FM in Navrongo

    Sunlight Media has launched a  subsidiary radio station, Mike FM, in Navrongo in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region.

    The radio station with the frequency, 105.3MHz and tagline “your credible voice”, seeks to foster community engagement that informs, educates, and entertains the public to spark positive public conversations to stimulate accelerated and inclusive development.

    Speaking at the launch in Navrongo, Mr Castro Senyalah, the General Manager of Mike FM, stated that Mike FM was not just a collection of frequencies and broadcasts, but a symphony of voices, a tapestry of stories and a heartbeat that resonated with all within the region and beyond.

    “Our mission is to be the soundtrack of your life, the companion that accompany you through every moment. From dawn to dusk,” he said.

    According to the General Manager, Mike FM would provide insightful content that would serve the interest of the diverse groups of its audience to empower them with the needed information and education to contribute significantly to nation building.

    “Mike FM is more than just a source of entertainment. we are a platform for community engagement, a bridge that connects people from all social classes and we believe in the power of radio to bring people together, foster understanding and create a sense of belonging,” he added.

    Mr Senyalah therefore invited the public to be part of the exciting journey and share thoughts and feedback to shape the future of the radio station to serve them better with integrity, passion, and excellence.

    “In the words of the legendary broadcaster, Paul Harvey, ‘news is not just what happens, but what people think about what happens.’ Mike FM will not only report the news but also spark conversations, challenges perspectives and encourage critical thinking.” He stated.

    In a speech read on his behalf, Mr Michael Achagwe Luguje, the Chief Executive Officer of Mike FM, noted that the mission and vision of the radio station could only be achieved through hard work and quality programming that connects well with the people.

    Mr Joseph Adongo, the Municipal Chief Executive for Kassena-Nankana, commended the management of Mike FM for the innovation and urged them to operate inclusive policies that took into consideration the diverse groups of people in the area.

    He urged them to be fair, non-partisan and non-tribal in its operations to ensure it survived to serve the public and enhance participation for sustainable development.

    Pe Abayage Barnabas Anonkore, Chief of Pungu, who chaired the function, believed that Mike FM would play a significant role to tell the stories of the community, enhance people’s connectivity and promote the culture of the people for sustainable and inclusive development.

    “The station reflects our collective efforts and a symbol of what we can achieve together. Let us all support the new venture and make not a powerful source of information, inspiration, and unity for our community,” he added.
