The Methodist Church Ghana has officially inducted the Right Reverend Ebenezer Popeson Adjei as the new Bishop of the Tema Diocese.

The induction ceremony was led by the Most Rev. Professor J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, the Presiding Bishop of the Church, who installed Rt. Rev. Adjei as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese, succeeding Rt. Rev. Samuel Ofori Akyea.

As part of the ceremony, the Presiding Bishop presented the new Diocesan Bishop with symbolic items of office, including a ring, skullcap, pectoral cross, pastoral staff, Holy Bible, and a copy of the Church’s constitution.

In his address, the Presiding Bishop urged Rt. Rev. Adjei to draw strength from the presence of God, referencing Exodus 33:14, and to rely on divine guidance rather than solely on human counsel. He advised the new Bishop to lead without bitterness or complaints, qualities he said were essential for effective ministry and leadership.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency after his induction, Rt. Rev. Adjei described the occasion as a solemn reminder of his responsibility to fulfill his calling. Quoting Philippians 4:13, he affirmed, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” pledging to serve the Church faithfully and without complaints, as urged by the Presiding Bishop.

He further expressed confidence that God, who called him, will equip him with both spiritual and human resources to effectively carry out his duties. Rt. Rev. Adjei also encouraged Christians to remain hopeful, depend on God, and uphold unity as a foundation for national peace and cohesion.
