TOR Receives One Million Barrels of Jubilee Crude to Strengthen Refining Operations

The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has taken delivery of one million barrels of Ghana’s Jubilee Medium Sweet Crude, a move expected to enhance its refining operations and support the ongoing revival of the state-owned refinery.

The shipment, carried by the vessel MT Apache, arrived on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. According to a statement issued by TOR on Thursday, July 16, the steady supply of crude is critical to sustaining refinery operations and meeting demand for petroleum products.

TOR noted that the crude supplies have enabled it to continue producing refined petroleum products for both the local and regional markets, contributing to Ghana’s energy security while supporting industrialisation and value addition.

The latest shipment is the second delivery of locally produced crude to the refinery under the current administration.

It also marks the third one-million-barrel crude consignment secured by TOR in the past three months, following earlier deliveries of Bonga and Baleine crude since May 2026.

Management believes refining Ghana’s indigenous crude domestically will help stabilise the local fuel market and strengthen the country’s ambition of becoming a competitive refining hub in the West African sub-region.

The refinery expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his continued support and leadership, as well as to the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, for his role in overseeing efforts to restore refining operations.

TOR reaffirmed its commitment to deepening the integration of Ghana’s upstream and downstream petroleum sectors to maximise value from the country’s natural resources.
