Two nannies have been arraigned before the Accra District Court for allegedly giving sleep-inducing drugs to their employer’s twin toddlers.

The accused, Francisca Boakye, 30, and Harriet Ansah, 31, are facing two counts of conspiracy to commit crime and four counts of causing harm. Both pleaded not guilty.

The court granted each of them bail of GH¢100,000, with two sureties who must justify the bail with landed property. The case has been adjourned to November 27, 2025.

She also claimed she learned the practice from Francisca, who had worked for the complainant earlier.

Koranteng informed the employer, who immediately reported the matter to the police. The children were referred to the Police Hospital for medical attention.

Investigations revealed CCTV footage showing Harriet treating the toddlers cruelly. She was arrested and, in her caution statement, admitted to the act and implicated Francisca. A search of Harriet’s room uncovered two used and four unused trays of Dynewell tablets, which were handed over to the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) for analysis.

Francisca was later arrested and also confessed in her statement. Both suspects have now been charged before the Circuit Court at the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) Headquarters in
