Zijin Golden Ridge Limited has donated 13 air conditioning units valued at GH¢83,125 to the Abirem Government Hospital to enhance healthcare delivery and help maintain the proper operating conditions for critical medical equipment.
The company explained that the donation is part of its corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at supporting development within its host communities. The air conditioners will be installed in strategic sections of the hospital where temperature regulation is necessary for the effective operation of sensitive medical devices.
Receiving the items, the Medical Superintendent of Abirem Government Hospital, Dr. Patrick Atta Larbi Sakyi, commended the mining company for its consistent support, noting that its contributions in logistics, equipment and infrastructure have played a major role in the hospital’s transformation from a health centre into a fully operational district hospital.
Dr. Sakyi said many of the hospital’s laboratory analysers and diagnostic machines require stable temperatures to function properly, and the new air conditioners will help protect the equipment while improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.
Zijin’s Social Responsibility Manager, Paul Suchmann Apenu, stated that supporting the hospital aligns with the company’s commitment to improving the welfare of communities within its operational area.
He noted that the Abirem Government Hospital is the only district hospital serving the company’s mine host communities and that the donation was intended to support the efficient operation and maintenance of essential medical equipment.
The company added that the gesture forms part of a broader range of interventions it has undertaken in healthcare, education, infrastructure and socio-economic development across its host communities, and reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to improve living conditions in the areas where it operates.
