The CGIA Institute and its affiliate network in Ghana featured the first-ever edition of the Ghana Women in Finance & Investment Awards at the 2nd Women in Finance & Investment Summit (WIFIS 2021).

The Summit, held at the Asante hall of the Alisa Hotel at Ridge in Accra, brought together approximately 150 executives, as well as female leaders in finance and investment; not to mention some incredible young professionals and industry partners who are dedicated to driving diversity in the finance and investment management industries.

According to the Institute, “With a growing body of research showing that more diverse teams and inclusive workplaces directly correlate with stronger business outcomes, the issue of diversity in the finance and investment management industry continues to move up the agenda.”

The Keynote address, delivered by a representative of the Bank of Ghana’s 2nd Deputy Governor, Mrs. Elsie Addo Awadzi, set the tone for the event, which was followed by a slew of meaningful contributions.

Female leaders in the Finance and Investment industry were granted a platform, on which they shared their stories and “beginnings” with the young and up-and-coming ladies venturing into the finance and investment sector.

Here is a list of notable women whose contributions to the financial sector have been recognized.

    • Abena Brigidi – Finance & Investment Woman of the Year 2021
    • Dr. Suzy Aku Akpene Puplampu – Wealth Manager of the year 2021
    • Patience Akyianu – Insurance Leader of the Year 2021
    • Mavis BOSSMAN – Investment Analyst of the Year 2021
    • Roberta Annan – Sustainable & ESG Woman of the Year 2021
    • DEBORAH ARMAH AKOTEY – Fund Manager of the Year, 2021
    • Bank of Africa, Ghana – Contribution to Diversity & Inclusion Award 2021
