The World Food Programme (WFP),  with support from the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA),and in partnership with Blossom Academy is now accepting applications for the second cohort of the Code4Food Security Fellowship. The six-month programme equips young people with the technological  skills to tackle food security challenges and build more resilient food systems

    A proven model
In June 2026, 70 fellows graduated from our first cohort, with women making up 63% of the cohort. Within four months of graduating, over 70% of the fellows have secured placements.

The fellows acquired technical, analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling them to apply AI and machine learning in developing practical and innovative solutions to real-world agricultural challenges. One of the solutions developed as part of the fellowship is MaizeSecure, an AI-powered system that monitors Fall Armyworm infestations and provides advisory support to maize farmers, helping them make timely and informed decisions on pest management. At the graduation ceremony, WFP’s Country Director Aurore Rusiga commended the programme for its rigorous, industry-relevant training and for showing how digital technology can improve agriculture and food systems.

    What fellows will gain
Building on the first cohort, fellows can expect:

    • Hands-on training in Data Science/AI, with practical projects focused on food security
    • Leadership skills training, including elevator pitches, mock interviews, presentations and communication workshops
    • Exposure to industry through visits to agribusiness and research organisations
    • Post-graduation support from Blossom Academy to connect fellows with employers and explore job placement opportunities.

    Who can apply
    Applicants must:

    • Be aged 18 to 35.
    • Reside in or relocate to the Greater Accra jurisdiction to participate in the programme throughout the fellowship period.
    • Be able to commit at least 36 hours a week
    • Be available for both virtual and in-person meetings
