In a ceremony to commission the new facility, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Mpraeso Constituency David Ansah Opoku stressed the need and importance of having an Astro-turf in the constituency, urging the youth to make use of the facility in order to shape and develop their talent.

“Help me to thank the President of this country, Nana Akufo-Addo, for his vision for this constituency anytime we make an appeal to him to assist the community,” he said.

“His government is a hearing one, projects upon projects especially for Mpraeso with this new astro-turf. I believe this turf will help develop our sports and football in this community,” he added.

“We are appealing to people who have had good positions to return and support Kwahuman. A promise given by Dr. Ben Asante [the CEO of Ghana Gas]is what we’re seeing today.”

The Mpraeso MP commended the leadership of the gas company, especially CEO Dr. Ben Asante, for helping to provide this modern Astro-turf.

He urged the community especially the youth to take good care of the facility and make proper use of it.

The pitch is a FIFA-standard Astro-turf with floodlights, among others. Its construction was sponsored by Ghana National Gas Company as part of its corporate social responsibility to aid sport development in the constituency and the Eastern Region, at large.

Senior Community Relation Officer Emmanuel Asafo-Adjei delivered the company’s vision of supporting the socio-economic development of this country in areas such as education, health, water and sanitation, sports among others under the leadership of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ben Asante.

Municipal Chief Executive Emmanuel Atta Ofori Snr, Member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro Sylvester Matthew Tetteh, traditional leaders, Chief of Obomeng Nana Effah Pinamang III, Britz Engineering Solutions and Trading Limited were among the dignitaries at the ceremony.
