Coach Ocloo: We’re worried by our performance

THE assistant coach of Asante Kotoko, David Ocloo, has admitted that the club is facing difficult times following their string of poor performances in the ongoing betPawa Premier League.

The club’s woes continued last Saturday following a narrow loss to the newly promoted side, FC Samartex, at Samreboi which was their fourth loss on the road.

However, speaking during a post-match interview, Coach Ocloo admitted that whenever they played in a game without scoring, they felt worried, and this was something they must change.

“Yes of course, anytime the goals are not coming they are worrying times, but we’ll go back and work hard like we always do”, he stated.

Last week, supporters of the club vented their frustration at the team during their 0-1 loss to Dreams FC at the Baba Yara Stadium over what they described as poor performance by both the technical team and the playing body.

But the Porcupine Warriors assistant coach believes the players must change their style of play and be more aggressive in front of goal, something he believes the players didn’t do in their game against Samartex.

“We need to be more aggressive and purposeful in front of goal”, he said.

He, however, promised to go back to the drawing board to see where they could correct their mistakes and come back stronger to ensure they won their matches.

He described as unfortunate their inability to score in the game even when they had changed their strategy during halftime but gave the credit to the host team for their determination to ensure they grabbed the maximum points.

“We came with a game plan, but Samartex were more determined, and they wanted it more than us but during recess, we also restrategised and came in but it’s unfortunate we couldn’t score” coach Ocloo observed.

Asante Kotoko are currently on 15th position on the league log with 10 points after 10 matches and they are expected to play another tough game against defending champions, Medeama, at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
