The service under the theme: ” celebration of the Goodness of God,” was organised by both the Christian and Muslim communities in Effutu in collaboration with Effutu Dream and hosted by St John the Divine Anglican Church to thank God for a successful election.

It was also to honour and acknowledge significant milestones, divine favour and the collective efforts that led to peace, prosperity, and progress within Effutu and collectively reflect on how the peaceful electoral process provides a foundation for national development. It was also used to recognise Osahene Alexander Ato Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu and Minority Leader of Parliament for his contribution to the legislative process and efforts to ensure that democracy was upheld.

Ven. Fr. Eduah said the 2024 election was pivotal to ensure continuity of peace and democracy in the country, saying Ghana had long been regarded as the beacon of stability in Africa, with its peaceful transition of power and commitment to democratic values. He explained that the peaceful election process was not only reflection of the maturity of Ghana’s democracy but also a testament to the country’s commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region.

Ven. Fr. Eduah advocated for all Ghanaian duty bearers to ensure that peace prevailed for total national cohesion and for development. He stated that Osahen  Afenyo-Markin’s win in the 2024 parliamentary election was not only a personal triumph but also a reflection of the confidence the people of Effutu had in his leadership, as well as commitment to peace and development.

According to him Osahen Afenyo-Markin’s appointment as Minority Leader of the 9th Parliament was a testament to his leadership skills, political acumen and ability to work within the framework of the parliamentary system, playing a pivotal role at shaping Ghana’s legislative agenda, advocating for policies to help promote the welfare of all Ghanaians, irrespective of political affiliation”.

“Beyond his role in Parliament, our MP has made significant contributions to the development and well-being of persons living in Effutu Municipality, hence he was recognised for his invaluable service in Effutu, by the traditional council led by Neenyi Ghartey VII, Paramount Chief of Effutu Traditional Area. Neenyi Ghartey who is also the President of the Effutu Traditional Council, conferred the title, Osahen, on Mr Afenyo-Markin, a position of great influence in the traditional area.

“The position given him also underscore his role as a transformative leader who bridges the gap between modern governance and traditional authority adding this offers opportunity for entire people of Effutu and the country as a whole to reflect on the importance of effective leadership and collective efforts which is required for national development”.
