Abdul Karim Zito has officially stepped down as Head Coach of Asante Kotoko following the club’s elimination from the MTN FA Cup at the Round of 16 stage by Aduana FC.
The Porcupine Warriors have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, managing just one victory in their last five matches across competitions. The dip in form leaves Kotoko fifth on the Ghana Premier League table, eight points behind league leaders Medeama SC.
The club confirmed Zito’s resignation in a statement issued via its official social media platforms.
“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as Head Coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect. Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.
Zito was appointed in July last year and enjoyed early success, guiding the club to victory in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup. However, recent performances appear to have intensified pressure on the technical bench.
Asante Kotoko are expected to name a new head coach in the coming days as they seek to revive their league campaign and restore momentum.
