GTEC Warns Public Against 80 Unrecognised Tertiary Institutions in Ghana

In a statement issued on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the Commission urged prospective students, employers, and the general public to exercise caution and conduct proper due diligence before enrolling in programmes or accepting qualifications from the affected institutions.

GTEC explained that the listed institutions have not met the required accreditation and quality standards, making their academic credentials unreliable.

“The Ghana Tertiary Education Commission wishes to inform the public that the institutions listed below are currently not recognised due to various quality assurance concerns,” the statement said.

It further warned that individuals who enrol in such institutions risk obtaining certificates that may not be valid for academic or employment purposes.

The Commission advised the public to verify the accreditation status of any tertiary institution before admission to avoid future complications.

It stressed that it remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of tertiary education in Ghana and ensuring that all institutions meet approved academic and operational standards.
