Internationally acclaimed American media personality, public speaker and minister Tera Carissa Hodges has partnered with the Smile4mation initiative to support vulnerable single mothers in Ghana through its Single Mothers Project.

Over the next six months, Hodges will provide additional financial assistance to selected beneficiaries under the initiative, which was launched in 2025 to empower single mothers by sharing their stories of resilience while offering practical support.

The outreach has gained widespread attention online for highlighting the experiences of single mothers and helping them rebuild their lives through community support.

Hodges, who has spent the past six years championing humanitarian causes in Nigeria through Global Christian Relief, The Waterlight Save Initiative, and the Public Health Aid Awareness and Education Organization, said supporting a similar initiative in Ghana was a natural step.

An admirer of the Mitch Brothers, she believes their nomination-based project challenges the negative stereotypes surrounding single motherhood by celebrating the strength, resilience and dignity of women.

“I’ve been following the Mitch Brothers for a while now, and I love their skits and the energy they bring! I found their work under Smile4mation touching since I do similar work in Nigeria with UN-accredited agencies. It made offering some form of support a must, especially considering my heritage is tied to both West African nations,” Hodges said.

She added: “Single motherhood is a difficult reality, made even harder by existing stereotypes that often undermine women who find themselves in such situations. I was surprised to see Nana Mitch and Schardo Mitch take meaningful action to address the issue, and more importantly, their desire to share such stories in a positive light. To see men using their platform to uplift women is admirable. This is the kind of selflessness the world needs.”

The first phase of Hodges’ support will benefit Victoria Nanor, a single mother of three living in a kiosk in Prampram, who earns a living by collecting and selling plastic waste.

Expressing their appreciation, the Mitch Brothers said Hodges’ support would strengthen their efforts to assist mothers and children facing difficult circumstances.

“We truly appreciate Tera’s words, her work, and the interest she has shown in our Single Mothers Project. Her support means a lot to us and adds to the effort we are making to uplift mothers and children facing difficult circumstances. We are grateful for her belief in what we do and for her encouragement. We say thank you,” they said.

Widely recognised for her humanitarian work, Hodges has built a global reputation as an advocate for women’s rights, empowerment and faith-based outreach. Through her partnership with Smile4mation, she is extending that mission to Ghana by supporting efforts that help vulnerable women rebuild their lives and regain confidence through stories of resilience.
