The Energy Commission of Ghana has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi-based Global South Utilities (GSU) to strengthen cooperation and investment in Ghana’s energy sector.
The agreement was signed in Accra by Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie and Ali Al Shimmari after receiving approval from the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Abdulla Almandoos and formed part of a high-level visit to Ghana by a United Arab Emirates delegation led by Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan.
The MoU provides a framework for both institutions to collaborate on technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and investment initiatives aimed at supporting Ghana’s energy transition agenda.
Speaking after the signing, Bondzie said the partnership would help identify practical opportunities that deliver meaningful benefits to Ghana’s energy sector.
Al Shimmari also reaffirmed GSU’s commitment to working with the Energy Commission to support the country’s transition to sustainable energy while contributing to long-term economic growth.
Both parties expressed optimism that the agreement would enhance the resilience of Ghana’s energy infrastructure and improve access to reliable, affordable and sustainable energy across the country and the wider region.
