The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the Paramount Chief of Kenyase No. 2, Nana Kwabena Nsia Ababio, for breaching the customs and traditions of the Asante Kingdom.
The decision was announced during a meeting of the Asanteman Traditional Council held on Monday, July 27, 2026.
In addition to the Paramount Chief, nearly all his kingmakers were also destooled after they were found to have violated the oath of office they swore to uphold.
However, the Asantehene exercised clemency by sparing the Kontihene from the sanctions. He also reinstated the destooled Akyeame (linguists) and other members of the traditional council who had previously been removed from their positions.
The ruling underscores the Asantehene’s commitment to preserving the integrity of the chieftaincy institution and ensuring strict adherence to the customs, traditions, and values that govern the Asante Kingdom.
No further details have yet been released regarding the specific customary violations that led to the destoolment.
