    Avenor Tutudoza Traditional Council announces ban on all funerals

    The Avenor Traditional Council, has announced a customary ban on all funerals within the Avenor enclave as part of plans paving way for their fifth annual festival celebration.

    The ban would take effect from Monday, November 11 to Monday, November 25.

    The directive was released in a statement signed by Torgbui Tali Gafatsi lll, Chairman of this year’s ‘Avenor Tutudoza Central Planning Committee.

    “The Central Festival Planning Committee in conjunction with the Avenor Traditional Council hereby announces that the customary ban on all funerals and other forms of mass gatherings in the Avenor land will take effect from Monday, 11 to Monday, November 25,” it read.

    The statement outlined some activities ahead of the grand durbar, which comes off on Saturday, November 23.

    These are general clean-up exercises, health walk, reconciliation and cleansing rites, pilgrimage to ‘Datsutagba,’ and Mama Nutifafa Avenor beauty pageant.

    The rest include Artists’ Night and Musical Concert, street jams, paying of homage to the Paramount Chief, and thanksgiving church service.

    Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, President of the Avenor Traditional Council and Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional Area, in the statement, appealed to the public to cooperate with them by strictly adhering to the ban to ensure peaceful and successful celebrations.

    This year’s festival would be on the theme: “Fostering Peace and Unity for Sustainable Development in Avenor.”
