Portugal midfielder Bernado Silver has agreed to a one-year contract extension with Manchester City which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
The 29-year-old was a crucial member of the Treble-winning side last season but was linked with a move away from the Cityzens with the likes of Barcelona showing massive interest.
Silva was also linked to a move to Saudi Arabia following the recent acquisition of top players to the Saudi Pro League including his former teammate Riyad Mahrez.
However, he has decided to extend his stay with the club as they aim for a fourth consecutive Premier League trophy.
“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here,” Bernardo said.
“Winning the Treble last season was extremely special and it’s exciting to be part of a squad where there is such a hunger and passion.
“Success makes you want even more, and this Club gives me that opportunity to keep on winning.
“I love the manager, my team-mates, and the fans and hope we can share even more great memories in the coming years.”
Manchester City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain expressed his delight at Silva’s choice to devote his future to the team.
“Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we’re delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the Club.
“His quality and technical ability is fantastic – and alongside his hard work and professionalism, he has become one of the best players in the world.
“Bernardo was so important in our Treble-winning season and we are sure he can help deliver even more trophies in the next few years.”
In his 308 games to date, Bernardo has won a host of trophies with Manchester including the Champions League, two FA Cups, four League Cups, two Community Shields, and five Premier League championships.
