Ghanaian music heavyweight Black Sherif has officially kicked off 2026 in style. On March 27, the 24-year-old rapper and singer from Konongo released his highly anticipated first single of the year, titled “PopStar”, under Blacko Management and distributed globally by EMPIRE.

The track comes complete with an official visualizer that captures Black Sherif in sharp tuxedo-style attire against striking desert scenes — a sleek, cinematic vibe that perfectly matches the song’s ambitious energy.
“PopStar” seamlessly blends drill, highlife, and Afro-pop elements, delivering relentless energy from start to finish. Black Sherif’s signature raw storytelling and melodic delivery shine through as he reflects on his journey from the streets to stardom. Fans are already calling it a “masterpiece” and a straight-up banger, with many rating it 9/10 or higher.
Within hours of release, the song topped Audiomack trends in Ghana and beyond. Social media is flooded with fan clips, dance challenges, and excited reactions the streets are literally buzzing.
Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, the artist better known as Black Sherif (or simply Blacko) first burst onto the scene with breakout hits like “First Sermon”. Over the past few years, he has dominated Ghana’s charts and earned a massive following across Africa and the diaspora for his honest lyrics about youth struggles, ambition, and resilience.
Last year, he continued to solidify his status as one of Ghana’s most influential voices. Now, with “PopStar,” early buzz suggests he’s ready to take things to an even bigger global level in 2026.
