LALIGA has announced the nominees for the 2025/26 SPORTY LALIGA MVP award, recognising the best African player in Spain’s top flight this season.
Now in its fifth edition, the award—organised in partnership with SPORTY Group—celebrates the growing impact of African talent in Spanish and European football.
Among the standout nominees is Iñaki Williams of Athletic Club, who is aiming to win the award for a third consecutive time. Also in contention is Thomas Partey of Villarreal CF, alongside several other top African performers across the league.
Togo’s Djené Dakonam continues to impress as captain of Getafe CF, while Nigerian forward Akor Adams has enjoyed a breakthrough season with Sevilla FC.
Other notable nominees include Pape Gueye, Pathé Ciss, and Nicolas Pépé, reflecting the diversity and strength of African representation in the league.
Fans across Sub-Saharan Africa can vote for their favourite players until May 10, with the final winner to be determined through a combination of public votes and a panel of experts. The winner will be unveiled at a special ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, on May 23, coinciding with the final weekend of the LALIGA season.
The award continues to strengthen the connection between African football and LALIGA, celebrating players who inspire millions of fans across the continent each week.
