BOSTenergies has donated GH¢1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) to help expand access to specialised healthcare for Ghanaians living with chronic and life-threatening illnesses, while easing the financial burden on affected families.
The contribution is expected to bolster the Fund’s efforts to finance treatment for patients who cannot afford specialised medical care and improve access to critical health interventions across the country.
Presenting the cheque, Managing Director of BOSTenergies, Afetsi Awoonor, described the donation as part of the company’s commitment to improving lives through responsible corporate citizenship.
“Healthcare is one of the greatest investments any nation can make. At BOSTenergies, we believe every Ghanaian deserves the opportunity to receive quality medical care regardless of their financial circumstances. The Ghana Medical Trust Fund is providing hope to people who had almost given up, and we are proud to support this noble national initiative,” he said.
Mr. Awoonor urged other corporate organisations to support the Trust Fund, stressing that the contribution was more than a financial donation.
“This contribution is not simply a donation but an investment in lives, families and the future of our nation. We encourage Corporate Ghana to come on board because together we can transform healthcare and ensure that no patient is denied treatment because of cost,” he added.
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the Fund, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, expressed appreciation to BOSTenergies for supporting the initiative and reaffirming confidence in its mission.
She said the donation would directly improve access to specialised treatment for patients battling chronic diseases and offer hope to families struggling with overwhelming healthcare expenses.
“This generous donation will translate directly into lives saved. It will help us support more patients requiring specialised treatment for chronic diseases, provide hope to families who have exhausted every option, and strengthen our efforts to ensure that quality healthcare is accessible to all Ghanaians,” she said.
Ms. Obuobia Darko-Opoku described the contribution as a strong vote of confidence in the Trust Fund and underscored the importance of public-private partnerships in strengthening healthcare delivery.
She also encouraged businesses, institutions and individuals to contribute to the Fund, noting that all donations are 100 per cent tax-deductible, allowing organisations to fulfil their corporate social responsibility while benefiting from tax incentives.
The donation comes as Ghana intensifies efforts to establish sustainable financing for specialised healthcare, with increasing collaboration between the public and private sectors to improve access to life-saving medical treatment.
