The Confederation of African Football has awarded Morocco a 3-0 win over Senegal following a ruling by its Appeal Jury regarding their Africa Cup of Nations clash.
In its March 17, 2026 decision, CAF upheld an appeal by the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football, overturning an earlier verdict by the Disciplinary Jury. The Appeal Jury cited procedural lapses, noting that Morocco’s right to a fair hearing had not been observed.
Upon reviewing the case, CAF found that Senegal breached key provisions of the AFCON regulations, specifically Articles 82 and 84. Consequently, the Fédération Sénégalaise de Football was sanctioned, and the match was awarded to Morocco by forfeit with a 3-0 scoreline.
However, Senegal’s football authority has strongly opposed the ruling, describing it as unjust and damaging to the integrity of African football. The federation has announced plans to challenge the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
With the dispute now set for international arbitration, the case is expected to remain a major talking point ahead of the AFCON 2025 tournament
