Odomfour Kwasi Apraku III, the Paramount Chief of Odomase in the Sunyani West Municipality has appealed to the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to facilitate for work to resume on the constriction of the ‘Agenda 111’ hospital project in the area.

According to the CONSAR Limited, the main contractor, construction work on the project was about 38 percent complete and had stalled since February this year, with about 90 percent of the local workforce laid-off due to lack of funding.

However, during a visit to the project site at Odomase, the Municipal capital on Monday, Odomfour Apraku III told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that he was surprised and unhappy that construction work on the project had been abandoned.

Describing Odomase as a “royal of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” the Paramount Chief said the completion of the project would not only sustain the royalty, but also make the government more popular in the eyes of the people.

Odomfour Apraku III, also a medical practitioner based in the United States, emphasised that with the confidence of the people in the NPP, it would be ungrateful if the government failed to facilitate the resumption of work and completion of the project.

Mr Joseph Amissah, the Project Engineer, CONSAR Limited, later told the GNA that the other two sub-contractors, Build Us, and Cheryl Limited had left the site, and prayed that the government would do something immediately for the work to resume on the project.

He said the Odomase Agenda 111 Hospital was one of the biggest projects in the country, worrying that the company raised two certificates, but payments had not been made.

“Out of about 150 permanent workers, we now have only 14. We have to lay them off because funding for the project has become a daunting challenge,” he stated.

Mr Amissah explained that the work on the 100-bed capacity project, with standard mortuary, and other auxiliary facilities, was expected to be completed in 12 months, commenced in 2022, saying with available funding, the project could be completed within eight months.
