Dasebre Bonja Atamafowiese II, Paramount chief of the chonke traditional area, has appealed to Mr John Mahama, the flagbearer of the NDC to construct a small-town water system in Krachi East constituency if elected as President.

Dasebre Atamafowiese II said the residents of Krachi East were surrounded by the River Oti but paradoxically suffered from inadequate access to clean water.

This stark reality has prompted Dasebre Atamafowiese to seek Mr Mahama’s intervention, emphasizing the dire need for a reliable water supply system.

He made this request when the flagbearer of the NDC stormed Dambai main station as part of his campaign tour of the region to canvas for votes in the remaining few weeks into the December elections.

He reiterated his plea to the Presidential candidate to prioritise constructing a bridge over River Oti when he assumes office.

The Paramount chief expressed concerns about the frequent breakdown of the ferry on River Oti, which left passengers and commuters stranded.

“Imagine being stuck at the riverbank, waiting for the ferry to be repaired, with no clear timeline for when it will resume operation, the impact on local trade and commerce is significant, as goods and foodstuff are delayed, causing losses to businesses and individuals”.

Mr Mahama assured the chiefs and residents of Krachi East that his administration would prioritise the construction of a small-town water system and the River Oti bridge, adding that an NDC government would never disappoint them when voted into power.
