Nigerian music star Davido, born David Adeleke, has revealed that he is stepping away from music for an unspecified period.

Speaking during a recent livestream with streamer Davrel, the award-winning artiste told fans to stop expecting new songs from him anytime soon, explaining that he is currently taking a sabbatical from music.

According to Davido, he remains highly relevant in the industry even without releasing fresh tracks, noting that many of his songs are still dominating club playlists.

He stated that a large number of songs played in clubs are his, which makes him comfortable taking a break from recording and releasing music.

The singer also shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s emerging celebrity boxing scene, describing the tournament as a positive and exciting development.

Meanwhile, popular content creator Cater Efe recently defeated controversial singer Portable to become the new champion of the celebrity boxing competition.

Following the loss, Portable alleged that many people within the music industry do not support him and claimed that several colleagues dislike him.
