The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced plans to conduct a joint military exercise across parts of the Bono and Upper East regions from May 10 to May 20, 2026.
Dubbed Exercise Storm Shield 2026, the operation will involve personnel from the Ghana Army, Ghana Navy, and Ghana Air Force.
In a statement released by Acting Director General of Public Relations, Veronica Adzo Arhin, the exercise was described as an internal security and counter-insurgency field training operation designed to improve the preparedness and rapid response capacity of troops against emerging security threats.
Residents in the affected communities are expected to notice heightened military presence and activities during the exercise period.
The military has, however, appealed to the public to remain calm and continue with their normal daily activities without fear.
GAF also reiterated its dedication to protecting Ghana’s territorial integrity and ensuring peace and stability nationwide.
According to the statement, the exercise is part of broader efforts by the armed forces to strengthen readiness in dealing with modern security challenges.
