France has confirmed its first case of Ebola after a doctor returned from a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the French health ministry, the doctor was immediately transferred to a specialised medical facility upon arrival and is currently in stable condition while receiving treatment and monitoring.
The case comes amid an ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which was officially declared last month. However, health experts believe the virus may have been circulating in affected communities for several weeks before the outbreak was formally identified.
French health authorities have indicated that appropriate public health measures are in place to manage the case and reduce the risk of further transmission.
The development underscores continued global vigilance against Ebola, a highly infectious disease that has caused multiple outbreaks in parts of Africa over the years.
