    GFA and SWAG holds workshop for Capacity Building in Northern region

    The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in partnership with the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have held the second phase of the first-ever Media capacity building programme for the Northern sector. The programme took place at the Ceeta Kel Hotel, at Asokwa in Kumasi.

    The aim of the one-day event was to ensure that the sports media was aware of the GFA’s operations and to strengthen the two organizations’ relationship.

    Speakers included General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq.), Deputy General Secretary, Alex Asante and President of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah.

    Others included Francis Adu, Head of GFA IT and legal practitioner Yaw Boafo of Yaw Boafo and Associates.

    Speaking at the event, President of SWAG Kwabena Yeboah reminded journalists on their role and contribution to the development of football in Ghana.

    “The media is very important and we must be reminded of our role in the development agenda.

    “We have a lot to do as a people. As industry players, we are responsible for the growth or otherwise of this industry so we must strive to make it better’’ Kwabena Yeboah added

    He called on the media to do away with negativity and rather focus their energy and airtime on promoting the game and projecting a positive image. General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo took journalists through Governance at the GFA, the GFA new Structure, Vision, Mission, Statutes, and relationship with FIFA, CAF, compliance and Integrity and audits.

    Head of the National Teams department, Alex Asante gave details about activities of the various National Teams, camping; organizing International matches (friendly and competitive matches).

    Legal Practitioner, Yaw Boafo spoke on media law, libel and defamatory of character.

    Director of I.T at the GFA, Francis Adu gave a detailed update on competition management, the GFA -FIFA Connect, Registration of players, Transfer Matching System (TMS), and the Competitions Management System (CMS).

    The programme was funded with the FIFA COVID-19 Relief Fund.
