Multiple AFCON winning coach, Herve Renard has hinted that he will return to break the Black Stars drought of winning the continental trophy after 1982.
The Frenchman served as Ghana’s assistant coach under head coach Claude Ley Roy during the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations which was hosted in Ghana.
Though the Black Stars continue to fight for an AFCON trophy after almost four decades, Herve has two to his name after guarding Zambia and Ivory Coast in 2012 and 2015 respectively.
However, Herve Renard who now serves as the manager of Saudi Arabia national team told TV3 in an interview that he will one day return to break Ghana’s AFCON trophy drought.
“Yes I have to come back one day to help one country to win, and that country hasn’t won it for a long time,” and that’s is your Country, Ghana, I will love to win this feat with the Black Stars”
Meanwhile, the current Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor has been tasked by the Ghana Football Association to break the drought at the next AFCON tournament in Cameroon.
