Jude Michelle Korleh Nortey has been elected as the second female President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The third-year Political Science student will serve as the 66th SRC President of the university for the 2026/2027 academic year after emerging victorious in a highly competitive election involving eight presidential candidates.
Jude Michelle secured 10,435 votes, representing 56.71 per cent of the valid votes cast, giving her a commanding lead over her closest challenger, Obeng Kelvin Fosu, whom she defeated by more than 6,000 votes.
Her victory marks a significant milestone in KNUST’s student leadership history, making her only the second woman to hold the SRC presidency.
She follows in the footsteps of Yvonne Osei Adobea, who became the first female SRC President of KNUST after being elected as the 63rd SRC President in 2023.
Jude Michelle will take over from Sharkir Is-Hak, the outgoing 65th SRC President, and is expected to lead the student body throughout the 2026/2027 academic year.
