Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that Ghana has secured broadcast rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup through government support and ongoing fundraising efforts.
Speaking on Tuesday, May 12, during the presentation of a GH¢5 million donation by GCB Bank toward the Black Stars fundraising campaign, the Minister revealed that arrangements had been finalised for the tournament to be aired live on selected media platforms across the country.
According to Mr. Adams, the successful acquisition of the broadcast rights was made possible through collaboration between government and supporters contributing to preparations for Ghana’s participation in the global football competition.
The donation from GCB Bank forms part of a broader national fundraising initiative launched by government to mobilise financial support from corporate institutions and stakeholders for the Ghana national football team ahead of the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana has been drawn in Group L, where the Black Stars are expected to face England national football team, Panama national football team and Croatia national football team.
