The Kotoku Police in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region have arrested a 50-year-old landlord, Kofi Koranteng, over the alleged murder of his tenant at Medie Ketewa, a suburb of Medie.
Police say the suspect was tracked and arrested at his hideout in Nsawam in the Eastern Region and is currently assisting with investigations.
The victim, identified as Opoku Agyemang, a 37-year-old father of three, was reportedly involved in a dispute with his landlord over an outstanding GH¢30 electricity bill.
Reports indicate that the two men were long-time acquaintances and maintained a friendly relationship prior to the incident, despite their landlord-tenant arrangement.
According to eyewitness accounts, the landlord invited the tenant to his room to discuss the unpaid bill, but the discussion reportedly escalated.
A witness, Enoch Idan Danquah, told reporters that the landlord allegedly produced a machete during the confrontation and stabbed the tenant fatally.
Following the incident, the suspect fled the scene before being later arrested by police.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged killing.
