Nassco Feeding Minds, in partnership with Deloitte, has inaugurated a modern ICT training centre at Jamiat Al-Hidayat Girls Senior High School to promote digital literacy and skills development among girls in the Upper West Region.

Speaking at the launch, Executive Director Banasco Seidu Nuhu said the project reflects the organisation’s 12-year commitment to advancing digital education and equipping young people with 21st-century skills.

He noted that this is the first ICT training centre the organisation has established in a girls’ senior high school, emphasizing the importance of girls’ education to national development.

According to him, the centre is supported with internet safety systems, developed in partnership with global technology institutions including Cisco, to protect students from harmful online content while learning.

He added that while digital literacy is increasingly important, government alone cannot meet all infrastructure needs, making partnerships essential to expand access to ICT education.

The organisation also plans to use the facility as a skills development hub through its NASCOTech initiative, offering training in software engineering and remote work opportunities. Students will also benefit from coding clubs, competitions, and ICT Olympiads to encourage interest in technology.

The centre will serve not only students of the school but also young people in the Wa Municipality through broader training programmes, including a six-month public coding course.

Education authorities welcomed the initiative, describing it as transformative and pledging support to ensure the facility is sustained for future learners.

Students of the school expressed appreciation for the project, noting that the new computers will greatly improve practical ICT learning and help them become more digitally competent.
