LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited has officially opened the fourth edition of the LCB Corporate Games 2025 with a kick-off at the Nii Adjei Krakue II Sports Complex at Tema New Town on Saturday, August 12.

The tournament, initiated by the crisis management solutions company, aims to foster unity among professionals from various sectors through teamwork, networking, and healthy competition.

This year’s edition features 16 teams split across two zones of Tema and Accra, with eight corporate teams representing each zone.

The Tema zone comprised of teams representing Wilmar Africa Ghana Limited, Ghana; Dock Labour Company; and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) Fire Department, which is the defending Tema champion, among others.

The Accra zone has competing teams, including LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited, Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF), Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), and Aviance, among others.

The 10-week tournament would climax with a grand finale where the winning team would take home GH₵20,000 and a trophy.

Other prizes would include GH₵10,000 for the first runner-up and GH₵5,000 for the second runner-up.

Individual player awards, including the Best Goalkeeper and Top Scorer prizes, would also be given.

The opening game saw LCB Worldwide Ghana taking on GIFF in a thrilling contest that set the tone for the weeks ahead.

Mr Felix Kofi Segbaya, the Operations Officer of LCB Worldwide Ghana, stated that the primary goal of the corporate games was to promote camaraderie, teamwork, cooperation, and industry-wide collaboration.

It also provided an ideal networking platform, allowing company leaders and professionals to connect in a relaxed, engaging environment, fostering potential business partnerships and cross-sector relationships, he said.

Participating companies also leveraged the event to enhance brand visibility, demonstrating commitment to a healthy workplace culture while showcasing community engagement initiatives.

Mr Segbaya additionally highlighted team-building activities, which fostered unity and strengthened internal bonds among staff.

LCB Worldwide Ghana Ltd, the tournament organiser, is a key player in Ghana’s public health and safety sector, contracted by the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service to oversee the disinfection of import and export cargo at ports and other entry points across the country.

During the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, LCB played a crucial role in Ghana’s pandemic response, leading disinfection efforts across markets, schools, and hospitals, and continues to support secondary schools through free disinfection services to combat bedbug infestations.

It also partners with organisations like the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA) to sanitise public spaces and prevent disease outbreaks.

As the tournament progresses, participants and the corporate world watch with keen interest to see if the GPHA Fire Department team will be able to successfully defend their title.
