The Amankrahene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Nana Odoom Amanfo IV, has asked the youth of Gomoa Akropong No2 to pool their resources together to help build a great and strong town.
‘’Our forefathers have done their parts and gone, as the youth of today we must also contribute our quota to leave a mark worthy of remembrance,’’ Nana Amanfo stated. The Amankrahene who is also the Chief of Akropong No2 made the call when he addressed a durbar to climax their Annual Akwambo festival at Gomoa Akropong in the Central region.
Nana Amanfo commended the youth of the town for their active involvement in the week-long festival with many activities which including a float through the principal streets of the town, quiz for schools at Akropong , Gomoa Aboso and Gomoa Benso.The Amankrahene said the chiefs and planning committee would complete a multipurpose Information Communication and Technology center this year to assist school children to become computer literate.
Measures to support the students and pupils to study hard to become good and responsible adults, have been put in place, Nana Amanfo stated. He further hinted that the 2025 Akwambo festival was dedicated to the youth of the town to enable them to know their traditions and customs to become good citizens.
He said the chiefs and elders have prioritised education and therefore charged the youth to take their studies seriously and consider education as a guiding principle and the key to end poverty. Nana Dr Agyarkwa Akyen III, Mankrado of Gomoa Akropong inquired about the legacy they were leaving behind for the next generation and urged all citizens to be part of the success story of the town by giving a helping hand to develop the Area.
He called on the inhabitants, especially those in diaspora to use volunteerism to help improve human and infrastructural resources, adding that the youth must be involved in the implementation of all policies and programmes put in place. Nana Dr Agyarkwa AKyen said one’s tribute was written by how they lived their lives and asked all to be mindful of their lifestyles and conducts.
The Mankrado urged inhabitants both home and abroad to support projects the chiefs and elders have started to give Gomoa Akropong No2 a facelift. Nana Kweke Saah II, Nifahene of the town admonished the youth not to joke with education and endeavor to abstain from drug abuse and other immoral acts that could truncate their education. The Nifahene asked young girls to abstain from premarital sex to avoid teen pregnancies and early marriage which could retard their progress in life.
