Nigeria’s Afrobeats superstar and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has reignited conversations around Ghana’s live entertainment space after making a bold call for stronger event infrastructure in the country.
Speaking during the just-ended Detty Rave in Accra, the Leg Over hitmaker revealed his readiness to commit $2 million towards the development of world-class event venues in Ghana. According to Mr Eazi, the only major requirement standing in the way of this vision is the availability of land, which he urged authorities to help facilitate.
Directing his appeal to the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and other relevant stakeholders, Mr Eazi emphasized that Ghana has the cultural influence, creative talent, and global visibility to host major international events all year round—but lacks enough purpose-built venues to fully maximize its potential.
He noted that with proper infrastructure in place, Ghana could significantly boost tourism, nightlife, and the creative economy, while also creating jobs and attracting more global festivals, concerts, and cultural experiences.
Mr Eazi’s announcement has since sparked widespread reactions online, with many industry players praising the move as timely and urging authorities to take advantage of the opportunity to elevate Ghana’s entertainment ecosystem to global standards.
As Afrobeats continues to position West Africa as a global cultural force, investments like this could play a key role in ensuring Ghana remains a top destination for music, culture, and entertainment on the continent and beyond.
“I need land for an outdoor and indoor venue. Ghana Tourism, if you think I’m not serious, I’ll drop the first $2 million. I need a space in Accra to build a 3,000 capacity indoor events venue.”
