MTN Ghana reaffirms commitment to equipping young people with digital skills

She explained that MTN Ghana was making the necessary investments in the digital space to empower the youth with initiatives including the MTN Skills Academy and urged the youth to take advantage of the platform to enhance their competences, to realise their full potentials.

Madam Kwofie said this while addressing young people at the 10th Youth Empowerment Summit, organised by Martha Inspires Foundation, on the theme: “Amplifying Youth Voices, Building Legacies”.

She encouraged the participants to dream big, believe in themselves, and invest in knowledge and skills that would make them responsible citizens, capable of leaving lasting legacies.

The summit, which marked a decade of empowering young people, brought together students from second cycle and tertiary institutions, youth groups, and development partners to provide mentorship, career guidance and inspiration for their active involvement in nation-building.

It was used to honour some students, individuals, and organisations for their contributions to the work of Martha Inspires Foundation over the years.

The summit was organised in partnership with the National Youth Authority (NYA), Songtaba, Norsaac, SWIDA-Ghana, WEE-North, Savanna Opticals, and Twisco, producers of energy drinks, amongst other partners, with MTN Ghana as the lead sponsor.

Miss Martha Anabilla, the Executive Director of Martha Inspires Foundation, recounted the 10-year journey of the summit, attributing its success to the support of individuals, corporate organisations, civil society actors, and youth groups.

She expressed gratitude to the partners and reaffirmed her commitment to the holistic growth of young people and called for continuous stakeholder support to provide adequate mentorship to enable the youth to make informed life choices.

Reverend Aaron Lambon Fant, the Senior Pastor of the Sanctuary of Wind and Fire Assemblies of God Church, Tamale, who spoke on the sub-theme: “Using Opportunities Wisely for Growth and Not Distraction,” admonished the youth to discipline themselves, set clear goals and pursue productive ventures.

He encouraged them to delay instant gratification and invest wisely in their future, saying “It is time to believe that the African youth can make it at an early age.”

Alhaji Inusah Mahama, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in-charge of Operations and Programmes, NYA, urged the youth to take advantage of government programmes and interventions to equip themselves for the future.

Miss Mohammed Asana, a student at the Tamale Girls’ Senior High School, described the summit as a springboard for empowerment, exposure, and informed decision-making.
