The Ningo-Prampram Municipal Assembly (NIPMA) has joined the 24-hour sanitation day clean-up exercise with a massive clean-up exercise in the Dawhenya township.

The exercise saw residents, drivers, and staff of the Assembly joining hands to sweep and desilt choked gutters in the area.

Ms. Vida Awuku, the Coordinating Director for NIPMA, who led the exercise, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the exercise was a directive from the Greater Accra Regional Minister and the Regional Coordinating Council.

The Council directed that every first day in a month to be set aside for cleaning of the various districts.

Ms. Awuku said the exercise was also aimed at helping to eradicate the cholera outbreak while ensuring residents stay in an area free from filth.

She added that the Assembly would make sure all the communities within its jurisdiction have their own massive clean-up exercise after the first one, which was to kickstart the initiative.

She further urged residents of Ningo-Prampram and Ghanaians at large to partake in the exercise to clean the nation.
