The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Justin Frimpong Kodua, has condemned the attacks on 12 constituency collation centres allegedly by some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just-ended elections.

He, therefore, called on the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo-Dampare, to ensure the safety of persons in those collation centres and maintain law and order across the country.

He mentioned Damongo, Ablekuma North, Techiman South, Aowin, Obuasi East and Nsawam Adorgyiri as some of the centres.

Others were Fanteakwa North, Ahafo-Ano North, Ahafo-Ano South-West, Akwatia, Trobu and Tema Central.

He called on the leadership of the NDC to call those people to order and allow the electoral processes to work to ensure the sanctity of the polls.

Mr Kodua made the call during a news briefing at the Party’s headquarters in Accra Sunday night.

He said the Party’s internal collated results showed that its parliamentary candidates won the elections in those constituencies and alleged that the perpetrators of the violence wanted to use violent tactics to tamper with the results.

“Violence must have no place in our electoral process as a country. We have come too far in our democratic dispensation…,” he said and that no violence must be allowed to mar this year’s elections.

He commended Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Flagbearer of the NPP, for conceding defeat to former President Mahama within 14 hours after close of polls, describing his action as “historic and worth emulating”.

The NPP General Secretary commended President Akufo-Addo, former President J. A. Kufuor, and Campaign Chairman for Election 2024, Mr Dan Botwe, for their support, counsel and good work.

He lauded the Party’s Officers and members for their tireless efforts throughout the electioneering.
