    NSS Board to hold crunch meeting over fate of 2020/2021 National Service Personnel

    The Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme in Ghana, Gifty Oware-Aboagye says the fate of 2020/2021 National Service Personnel will be decided by the Board of the National Service Scheme at a meeting to be held later this month.

    The fate of final year Tertiary Students in Ghana hangs in the balance as there has been a ban on academic work hence hampering their studies and ability to complete their academic work as scheduled by the various Universities.

    This has in turn also affected their registration and availability for National Service.

    Speaking to Gh One Television in an interview, Gifty Oware-Aboagye who is the Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme said the scheme has not decided yet on the way forward for the next batch of service personnel.

    According to her, the Board of the scheme is set to meet on May 27 to decide on the fate of the final year Tertiary students in Ghana to decide on whether they will be made to take their compulsory National Service since COVID-19 has disrupted their timetables and could hamper ability to complete their academic work.

    She said after the Board’s decision, the National Service Scheme will be able to decide on the way forward for final year Tertiary Students.

    Safety protocols for Service Personnel

    Gifty Oware speaking on the various measures put in place to ensure the safety of their personnel after they were made to go on break for their mandatory leave, Gifty Oware said the scheme has liaised with institutions and organizations using the services of their personnel to ensure that personnel are provided with PPEs and are made to adhere to the various protocols set out by the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health.
