President John Dramani Mahama has announced his first ministerial reshuffle since assuming office for his second term, reassigning several ministers and making new appointments to key portfolios.
Under the changes, Ahmed Ibrahim has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government to head the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources.
The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has been nominated as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
President Mahama has also nominated Dr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
Meanwhile, the outgoing Works and Housing Minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, has been reassigned to serve as Minister-designate for Defence.
The changes were announced in a statement issued on Friday, August 7, by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
The reshuffle marks the first major reorganisation of President Mahama’s ministerial team since the start of his second term and is expected to strengthen the administration’s efforts to deliver on its governance and development agenda.
