President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been re-elected President of the Republic of Ghana.
He polled a total of 6,730,413 votes, representing 51.59 per cent to beat closest contender John Dramani Mahama, who polled a total of 6,214,889 votes, in Monday’s presidential elections.
Mrs Mensa later explained that the difference of 515,524 between Mr Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) cannot be overturned by results from Techiman South.
His re-election ends Mahama’s bid to return to the Presidency albeit for now.
His running mate, Mahamudu Bawumia keeps his Vice-President role.
He becomes the 5th President of the fourth Republic and the third leader to be chosen for a second term in office.
