Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club in the Saudi Pro League, have been hit with a significant blow as FIFA has banned them from registering new players.

The ban, lasting for three transfer windows, comes as a result of the club’s failure to pay owed add-ons to Leicester City for the transfer of Nigerian striker Ahmed Musa.

The £14 million deal between Al Nassr and Leicester City included additional payments that have not been fulfilled, with the Saudi club owing the Foxes £390,000. As a consequence, FIFA has imposed a transfer ban on Al Nassr.

Al Nassr, who finished as runners-up in the Saudi Pro League last year, made headlines when they signed Cristiano Ronaldo in December 2022 on an astonishing £173 million-a-year contract.

They have been part of a trend of prominent players moving to the Middle East, including Karim Benzema, Ruben Neves, N’Golo Kante, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy.
