Tragedy hit Patasi, one of the affluent communities in the Kumasi Metropolis, when a school bus crashed into a storey-building, killing two people and critically injuring another.

The driver of the bus belonging to the Palmer International School was said to have lost control and crashed into the building killing the two instantly. The deceased were identified as Maame Serwaa 74, and one Alfred, between the ages of 45 and 50 years.

An eyewitness, who is a tenant in the house, told the Ghana News Agency that, the deceased were discussing a plumbing work issue in the house, after Maame Serwaa had invited Alfred over, to check the plumbing work at the bathroom of the house.

She said the two had just come in front of the house when the tragedy happened. According to her, the driver of the vehicle told the people who gathered there after the incident that the breaks of the car failed and that led to the accident.

“It took the intervention of the police and personnel from the Ghana National Fire service (GNFS) and Ghana Police Service to remove them from the trapped places,” the eyewitness stated.

The one who sustained injury has been sent to Suntreso government hospital for treatment, whereas the deceased have been taken to the morgue. The Police have commenced investigations into the matter.
