The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection has announced psychosocial support for victims and families affected by the secret filming and distribution of explicit videos and images by a Russian national.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, February 18, Minister Agnes Naa Momo Lartey said the ministry has set up a dedicated support desk to assist victims. She explained that all identified victims, along with their families, will undergo professional counselling to help them cope with the emotional and psychological impact of the incident.
“The psychosocial support we are giving is not just to the individuals involved, but also to their close relations. Their relatives, children, and everyone affected by this incident can receive professional support,” she stated.
Minister Lartey urged victims who have not yet sought help to contact the ministry, assuring them of government support. “Those who are yet to reach out, know that you have the love and support of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, who has mandated us to take charge of these issues. Reach out to us, and we will support you,” she added.
The ministry provided the following toll-free numbers for victims and the public to report cases: 0800 800 800, 0800 900 900, and 0800 111 222.
The controversy erupted after a viral video surfaced showing a man identified as Yaytseslav interacting with Ghanaian women, some of whom reportedly accompanied him to a hotel. The footage circulated widely on social media, prompting public outrage and renewed calls for action against online sexual exploitation.
