    Takoradi: Agric Minister tours ava Coconut Processing plant.

    Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, has paid a visit to GKV Foods as part of a six-day tour to five (5) areas around the country. The visit forms part of the government’s plan to increase the production of six tree crops: cocoa, coffee, rubber, shea butter, coconut, and palm oil.

    Dr. Afriyie Akoto was shown around the company, including all of the processes that ava coconut oil undergoes.

    Speaking with myghanadaily.com, Managing Director. of ava Coconut Oil, Mr. Kojo Nunoo expressed excitement about the tour and said, “after the company tour, there were interactions and also sharing some ideas especially regarding some challenges that we face by way of raw materials and also access to market and so on.”

    He further stressed the need for government to aid companies in capacity building: Government should aid companies so that companies would be able to export their products abroad and overseas.

    Meanwhile, Dr. Afriyie Akoto reaffirmed the government’s support for the coconut industry by committing to expand its production base. He also stated that the government is focusing on procuring equipment from Brazil and India to help the country’s agro-processing industry.
