“the first pillar in building a brand is finding the purpose so until a purpose is found you will be building a fake brand”, said Mr Bernard Kalvin Clive on the Books and Brands show this morning on Melodies FM(94.3).

Mr Bernard Kalvin Clive aka BKC is a brand consultant and publisher at BKC consulting. He is an author, speaker and Corporate trainer. He is also Amazons bestselling author of over 50 published books. Some of his books are CEO Branding, rebrand: the ultimate guide, remote work, authority, Doers 12:52.

Speaking on the topic branding on the Books and Brands show on Melodies FM, Mr Clive said,” Branding to him is the ability to constantly create a perception in the mind of your audience or market that there is no product or service like yours to meet their needs.”

“Building your brand being it personal or business all begins with purpose. Your why is more important than building the brand, so your why will define how to build the brand. After finding the purpose which is the first step then you move on to preparation which is the second step”, He said.

He continued by saying, “the first pillar in building a brand is finding the purpose so until a purpose is found you will be building a fake brand. The next step is preparation. If you don’t prepare you will repair and so the most important under preparation is understanding your audience and looking at the resources you need to polish your brand.”

“After preparation is positioning. My analogy is that, until you are rooted you will not grow branches so in building your brand even if you are multitalented get rooted in one thing and then you can build the others on it.”

According to Mr Clive an undiscovered journalist has no place in the market place and so the fourth step is publicizing. One needs to publicize after going through the first three steps in order to be discovered.
