Three people have died and eleven others sustained injuries following a head-on collision involving two vehicles at Ajumako Kokoben in the Central Region.
The fatal crash occurred on Monday, July 20, 2026, involving a Toyota Isuzu pickup truck with registration number GE 1361-25 and a Toyota Voxy with registration number CN 478-26.
Preliminary investigations by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) indicate that the Toyota Voxy was allegedly attempting to overtake another vehicle at high speed when poor visibility caused by dust led to a head-on collision with the oncoming Toyota Isuzu pickup.
Firefighters who responded promptly to the scene rescued four occupants who had become trapped inside one of the vehicles using specialized rescue equipment.
Before the arrival of the emergency responders, bystanders had already rescued seven other victims from the wreckage.
All injured persons were handed over to medical personnel and transported for treatment at nearby health facilities.
The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
The latest incident adds to growing concerns over road safety, with authorities continuing to urge motorists to exercise caution, particularly when overtaking and driving in conditions of poor visibility.
