Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Deputy Minister for Transport, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, updated Parliament’s Parliament Assurance Committee on key commitments within the transport sector.
Her briefing highlighted plans to deploy solar-powered systems in public facilities to support electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure as part of efforts to integrate renewable energy into Ghana’s transport system.
The Jomoro MP also addressed questions relating to earlier assurances made to Parliament, while responding to emerging concerns in the sector. She further informed the Committee about ongoing discussions aimed at promoting EV adoption nationwide.
In addition, she announced that 100 buses are expected to arrive by April to help ease current transport challenges and improve mobility.
The Committee also raised issues stemming from recent protests by railway workers, with the Deputy Minister outlining measures being taken to resolve their grievances and stabilise rail operations.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to accountability and transparency, stressing the importance of continuous engagement with Parliament to track progress and ensure effective delivery of national transport initiatives.
